North Korea is currently ranked 106th in the FIFA rankings. To reach the World Cup they had to complete 16 games and qualification stages.

North Korea has debut in FIFA World Cup finals in England in 1966, where was one of surprises. In that World Cup they were one of the biggest surprises in the history of the world cups when they defeat Italy and came to the quarter finals where they lost to Portugal in a historic 5-3 game.

In this world cup no one expects much of North Korea and being in the same group as Brazil, Portugal and Ivory Coast any won point will be a surprise.

Key Players

Hong Yong-Jo - The number 10 of North Korea is the only player to act in Europe, playing in Rostov in Russia, and has an experience that is crucial in this team. 

Jong Tae-Se - The "Asian Rooney" is the most advanced player in the atack. He plays Japan, Kawasaki Frontale. Speed and physical power are his main weapons. 

The Coach

Kim Jong-Hun is unknown at the international level and there have been rumors about his replacement by a more experienced coach to lead the selection for the World Cup. He crucial in the qualification and of a team that few expected to see in South Africa.
