With three world titles, Germany is one of the most winning teams at world championships, only beaten by five titles of Brazil and the four of Italy. Germany get qualification for this World Cup by staying in first place in Group 4, a group that was constituted also by teams from Russia, Finland, Wales, Azerbaijan and Liechtenstein. It was a relatively easy route with only two draws against Finland, and wins in all other matches.

As always Germany must be regarded as one of the favorite teams. One place, at least in the quarter finals was the main aim of the team, and any rating below is considered a failure. Even with the absence of Michael Ballack, who would undoubtedly be its leader in Africa, it will be always a great quality team.

Key Players

Bastian Schweinsteiger-Quick, physically strong  and holder of a powerful long distance shot and ,this midfield from Bayern is one of the key players in the German team.

Philipp Lahm - Plays on the left of the defense but is on his right foot that feels most comfortable. Secure in defensive side of the game, he creates imbalances in oponent defensives  and was one of the revelations of the last world cup.

The Coach

Joachim Low will lead Germany in its second major tournament, after they lost the final against Spain, the Euro 2008. With a average career as a player and without giving much evidence as coach, Low became Klinsmann's assistant and would later become head coach on July 16, 2006 after the world cup disputed in German soil.
